The first thing we noticed upon getting the bike, was the ease in which it all fit together. All requisite tools were included (an allen's wrench and quarterly wrench) and the directions were straightforward and clear. It took under 10 minutes start to finish. Five stars for ease of assembly!

The next great highlight that stood out about the Strider® preBike, was its very light weight frame. At 6.9 pounds, the bike was very easy to load and unload and the children testing it could admittedly pick it up on their own. Riders as young as two had no qoute lifting the bike over curbs or positioning the bike independently. Also, with the frame being metal, it is very durable and withstands the elements well.

The height of the bike is an additional one plus. The frame is so low to the ground, that pretty much any child who is walking confidently could ride the bike. The adjustable seat was key for some of the taller riders, and the Xl seat post selection allowed older preschoolers to fit on the bike. We would suggest purchasing the easy issue seat lever; it makes adjusting the seat much more convenient than using (and having to carry around) the wrench provided. The handle bars are also adjustable; the bike truly grows with the child.

We were also very happy with the rubber tires. Strider® also sells air-filled tires as an selection for the preBike, but in our opinion, this would be a mistake. Kids can ride the Strider® on city sidewalks, country paths and off road trails and be guaranteed to never have a flat! We didn't even flinch as kids rode the Strider over glass, thorns and sharp rocks. As parents, we felt this was a huge bonus, even if the ride with rubber tires isn't quite as flat as one with air-filled tires.

The Strider® preBike found is nothing super original. It does have integrated footrests along the back edge of the bike, and this sets it apart from some of the other equilibrium bikes out there. However, in our opinion, this wasn't one of Strider's great strengths. The colors it comes in are pretty basic too: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and pink. You admittedly wouldn't be buying this bike for its originality, but there are plenty of other contributing factors that make the preBike a terrifying buy.

Lastly, the cost of the Strider® cannot be beat. For such a well-constructed, lightweight, durable product, 0 seems like a bargain. This is a bike that retains its value; it can be passed down from child to child within a family and then sold for a good chunk of change. Having reviewed more than a handful of equilibrium bikes over the last any months, we can admittedly say that you cannot go wrong with a Strider® preBike.

The Weslo Easy 100 practice bike can best be described as basic. It only has two pre-set programmes which looks sparse compared to the 21 of the York C201 costing colse to the same. However, if you're finding for a comfortable, no-nonsense practice bike that will get you fit this can actually deliver that.

The fully adjustable handles and saddle makes it an ideal allocation model for many users. If you're short on space this covenant bike has built-in transport wheels for easy portability. The saddle is quite comfortable and with the wide pedals most riders except those over 6'3" should find a good riding posture.

The pedal performance is pretty level but some may find the manual resistance operate a bit fiddly. Others in this price bracket just require a press off a button on the console, whereas this bike has the 'old-fashioned' knurled knob to twist. This isn't a huge inconvenience but for many it's not as easy as digital control.

The display/ console is easy to read and use. The two pre-set programmes are a bit itsybitsy and don't actually offer too much discrepancy but then many users aren't too fussed about programmes and are happy to set the pace themselves. You can measure your pulse using the grips on the handles - this is displayed along with the usual, time, distance, calories etc.

However, there are no heart rate controlled programmes to help optimise your workout. These useful fitness and weightloss features are ready in this price range on the Proform 748Ekg and the previously mentioned York C201 and the ever-popular Bremshey Pacer.

Conclusion:
A good, basic bike without any frills that is comfortable and easy to use but can't match the above mentioned bikes.
